drop down menu when an image viewer webpart is clicked

So I have been given the task of making an interactive page where employees can click on the image of one of our office locations so they can get more detailed contact information. I was originally planning on just throwing the images up linking them to a new page where they can chose the specific details they want. However, I started thinking it would be really cool if when they click on the image and a drop down appears that lets them chose what information they want. After doing some research I found that Jquery can be used to create a drop-down with an html list. I have also looked at some blogs that were getting into xslt, master pages and what not.

Notes:

I could just make a html page and through it in a page viewer but id rather not. I know a little bit of C#, willing to learn more if need be for this project.

Anyone have any insight onto how to accomplish this and what would be my best way to about this?
