Filter entries of Data View Web Part using Sharepoint Designer 2010

I am trying to set up a list of current birthdays on our Sharepoint Website which runs with Sharepoint Foundation 2010.

So far i got:

• a list containing name, birthday(Date/Time) and two calculated columns for the day and month of the birtday (returning a number)


• i searched the web and tried to follow some tutorials:

Problems: Following the first tutorial i couldn't convert the List View to an XSLT Data View (Step 5). I managed to enter the advanced filter dialog (Step 9) by inserting an empty data view to the Web Part Page, connect it to my list and choose "conditional formating" from the context menu. But when i enter the formula from the tutorial (Step 9) i get an error message because my syntax is wrong.

Question(s):

1. What am i doing wrong regarding the tutorial?


2. Are there other ways to achieve my goal (A list of current birthdays on the Web Part Page)?
