I have an approval workflow setup which is running fine from within SharePoint, though when a user checks in a document from MS Office as a major version, the workflow initiation form never displays. If the same user checks in as a major version directly in SharePoint the initiation form does display and they can successfully start the workflow.
I have narrowed it down to SharePoint permissions, if I give the user contributor permissions on the entire site, the initiation form does display from Office. I cannot give users this level of access in a production environment though. When the user has full control on the library, document and task list - it is not enough and the initiation form does not display.
Any help would be appreciated.
