New Site template dialog

Is there any way to launch the new site dialog from a button or link on a page using javascript? I would like to display the template selection dialog without the users having to select it from the site actions menu. I can get to the standard new site page (/_layouts/newsbweb.aspx) but would prefer displaying the more user-friendly dialog.
