Prevent Workflow Status Column From Being Added To Default View

I'm creating a sequential workflow in Visual Studio 2013 for SharePoint 2010. The first time the workflow runs, a column is added to the default view for the workflow status. I have two questions:

1. How can I prevent this column from being added?


2. How can I set the name of the column?
