SP 2013 Alerts showing edited in fields where no changes made

The alerts on one of our sites are mistakenly showing that certain fields were edited where no edits were made. The "changes" are shown with strikethroughs, but the supposedly updated text is identical. We tried a fix for SP 2010, but it didn't work for us. Has anyone else had this problem?
