Create Exchange mailboxes and lync accounts through SP

I have a requirement to create exchange mailboxes and lync accounts through sharepoint. Please tell me what will be the ideal way of doing it ?

I have thought of enabling RPC on exchange and lync servers and then using command shell to create accounts. But this also doesnt look like a good or rather easy way of doing it.
