Do event receivers fire when list items are added or updated using REST or CSOM

HI i have mostly worked on SharePoint 2010 and 2013 sever object model and i am new to REST and odata. I want to know if an event reciever fires when a listitem is added or updated using REST or CSOM.

Can anyone help me with this and give me a correct direction and an example so that i can get my concept clear.
