I am running TFS2013.4 with a SharePoint Farm (2 servers) configured to serve up the project portals. With this configuration, I have successfully set up the search components on one (Server1) of the SharePoint Servers which crawls/indexes fine and even serves up that content when searching on that one server.
The issue is that search on the second (Server2) SharePoint server is hit or miss. I've looked through the ULS on each server and can see the requests go from Server2 to Server1 to be processed but still result in an error "Unexpected response from server." on Server2 usually accompanied by '[Forced due to logging gap ...'.
Do I have something misconfigured? Should I (or can I with only Foundations) configure some search components on Server2 as well?
