Web Part Connections won't work if data is "linked", what's an alternative

I have a web part connection that has linked data. "Company"

I want to click on company and see all the associated employees

List 1 - Sites
  Site Name
  Site Address (state etc)

List 2 - Company
  Company name 
  Company Contact
  LINK TO SITE 
  ... more data and links

List 3 - People
   Name, Employee ID, etc
   LINK TO SITE

Since a linked column doesn't appear to work, can I fake it out with a calculated column? Run a script that copies the data (redundant) into another hidden column?

What alternatives are there?
