can anyone help me with using different sort orders on the same data source in different drop down lists? I am using Sharepoint2010 and Infopath2010. User needs to be able to select information on a form about where they work. The services at which they work are grouped around hubs. There are hundreds of services grouped around dozens of hubs. Because there are so many services a user needs to be able to filter the list of choices by hub. Each service has a name and a number. Each hub has a name and a number. Some users are familiar with their service and hub numbers, they find those easier to use, they are definitive. Other users are not familiar with their numbers and prefer to look up the name. So users need to be able to select by either name or number. I have a secondary data source, a list in sharepoint with 4 columns, ServiceNumber, ServiceName, HubNumber and HubName (and other columns too). I have a solution that works so far but I am sure can be improved. My form has four drop down lists based on the above data source. Two lists are based on HubNumber as value, for one the display name is HubNumber, for the other the display name is HubName. This means changing either dropdown automatically updates the other. Only unique values are displayed in the drop down list. Two lists are based on ServiceNumber as value, for one the display name is ServiceNumber, for the other the display name is ServiceName. This means changing either dropdown automatically updates the other. A filter is set so only services associated with the currently selected hub are displayed in the dropdown list. This all works BUT as they are all based on the same data source they are all sorted in the same order. I can create four almost identical data sources but with different sort orders but that seems clumsy. Is there a better way? Thank you for any help or suggestions.
