Profile Sync is running but it does not update the attributes correctly

We have SharePoint 2013 with September CU (15.0.4649.1000) and we have started to receive issues when users change their manager or work status and in SharePoint it does not update the attributes that it sync from AD. I ran the profile sync and it completes, but we still have the issue even after doing several Full Imports.

I see the following errors in the Application log:

Also, Checked Synchronization Service Manager and we got status: stopped-extension-dll-exception

I am thinking of running PS script as described in above Blog (the last link) and not sure if this has any ramifications or whether it will fix the issue that we are having with AD attributes not updating correctly.

Also, another colleague of mine pointed out the following Blog: http://ift.tt/1Buk7GH But we are not using AD Connector but FIM, and was wondering if updating to October CU would fix the issue since this is happening in our environment where some users who updated their profile in AD see their assistant as their managers and their managers as assistant, but also in our environment we see other AD attributes are affected.

I also, would like to mention the following settings in our environment: 1. We are not using Picture Property name and it is not mapped.

  1. We created a new managed property for the user photo and it is mapped an AD attribute
